Tripoli Migrant Centre Airstrike Death Toll Rises to 53, Including 6 Children

Tripoli – IOM teams are continuing to provide food and water to the roughly 350 migrants still detained in Tajoura detention centre following Tuesday’s airstrike that killed 53 people, including several migrants who were scheduled to return home in the days after Tuesday’s airstrike.

At least 12 of the roughly 130 injured are in serious condition in hospital. IOM doctors who responded to the two powerful explosions at the centre remain on call to follow up on these cases.

Almost one-third of the more than 600 people from 17 nationalities detained at Tajoura were registered for IOM’s Voluntary Humanitarian Return project. Two enrollees are confirmed to have died, a number that is expected to rise.
