Resolving Land, Natural Resources Conflict at Geneva Peace Week
Switzerland - As part of the ongoing Geneva Peace Week, IOM, in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Swisspeace and UN Department of Political Affairs will hold full-day training on Resolving Land and Natural Resources Conflict in Peacebuilding.
The training, which will be held tomorrow (18/11) at the Villa La Pelouse at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, is geared towards peace and security professionals within the international community, and provides participants with expert guidance on the resolution of land and natural resource related conflict. The training will also highlight the centrality of conflict sensitivity as a foundational approach when engaged in highly dynamic and conflict prone environments.
Drawing on years of international experience, lessons learned and case studies, participants will explore a range of entry points and options for preventive action, structural reform and conflict resolution.
Participants will strengthen their knowledge and analytical and practical skills to assess and address the interlinkages between land and natural resource conflicts, insecurity, conflict, and peacebuilding in their respective fields.
In addition to being a co-organizer, IOM will also introduce and chair a session on “Addressing Land Conflicts in Durable Solutions for Forced Displacement”.
