Migration and Refugee Studies Course
A three-day course for government officials
from various Iranian ministries and bureaux on improving travel
documentation will end today in the Iranian capital, Tehran.
The course, organized by IOM and the Iranian
government, is the latest in a series of specialized trainings on
migration and refugee-related issues for Iranian officials and
policy makers involved in migration management. The training is
through the Academy for Migration and Refugee Studies, established
by the Iranian government in close collaboration with IOM in
September 2004. Course materials and curriculum are based on IOM's
Essentials of Migration Management (EMM), a reference tool devised
for governments and policy makers on the subject.
Participants on the course funded by the
Belgian government included representatives from the Foreign,
Interior and Labour Ministries as well as from law enforcement
agencies.
Since the Academy's inception, it has also
initiated dialogue and cooperation among various countries in the
region on migration management and other migration related
issues.
