Labour Market Data Seminar to be Hosted in Tunisia

Tunisia - IOM Tunis will tomorrow organize a two-day workshop on the impact of projects designed to integrate labour migration data into labour market information systems that match job seekers with job vacancies abroad.

The event, which is funded by the European Union (EU), is part of an EU-funded, IOM-implemented project: “Best Practices in Collecting and Sharing Labour Migration Data for the Improvement of  Labour Market Information Systems – LMIS,” managed by the IOM Regional Office for Europe in Brussels.

The project, which focuses on enhancing the labour migration component in labour market information systems, is being implemented in six countries: Colombia, Costa Rica, Ghana, Nicaragua, Senegal and Tunisia.

The Tunisian workshop, the third in a series, will allow participants to share best practices, identify follow-up actions and generate links with similar projects in order to ensure the sustainability of the LMIS project, which will end in January 2013.

Partners involved in the seminar include the Tunisian Ministry of Vocational Training and Employment, National Agency for Employment and Independent Work, National Observatory for Employment and Qualifications, National Institute of Statistics, State Secretariat for Migration, Office of Tunisians Abroad, Tunisian Agency for Technical Cooperation and Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Private recruitment agency Adecco, academics and government officials from Colombia, Costa Rica, Ghana, Nicaragua and Senegal will also attend.
