Italian Mission in Geneva Supports IOM on National Day
Ambassador Laura Mirachian, Permanent Representative of Italy to
the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in
Geneva, handed over a EUR 30,000 donation to IOM Director General
Swing at IOM Headquarters on 30th May.
“This year, I decided to break the diplomatic tradition of
organizing a large reception to honour Italian National Day by
signaling our concern for people and countries in need,” said
Ambassador Mirachian. “By this personal gesture, I wish to
underline the importance of the work carried out by the IOM for
those in need.”
“I must express my admiration for your inspired initiative
to donate part of the cost of a National Day reception towards
those in need,” said IOM Director General William Lacy Swing.
“We should all try to copy such an exemplary gesture during
these times when so many are suffering hardships and
deprivation.”
