IOM Slovenia Distributes Awareness Raising Materials to Educators
Slovenia – On 12 January 2017 the IOM office in Slovenia attended a one-day international conference for educators in Rogaška Slatina on the challenges and good practices related to the inclusion of refugee and migrant children and youth in the Slovenian school system. The conference was organized by the office of the Slovenian Member of the European Parliament Tanja Fajon in cooperation with the Lebanese International University, the Slovene Science Foundation and with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport.
During the conference, IOM presented and distributed awareness-raising materials for children and youth to teachers, principals and social workers. The materials – postcards, bookmarks and posters – were especially designed for use in schools and educational institutions to support teachers in developing educational discussions on the topic of migration and asylum with young people. The purpose of the activity is to encourage young people to consider that behind each anonymous statistic lies a human face and a personal story.
The production of the material was made possible with the support of the Council of Europe Development Bank – Migrant and Refugee Fund.
