IOM Signs Cooperation Agreement with the Mexican Youth Institute
IOM has signed a cooperation agreement with the Mexican Youth
Institute (IMJUVE) for the provision of visa services to
participants in the upcoming World Youth Conference (WYC).
The conference to be held in Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico from the
23rd to the 27th of August 2010 is an initiative of the Mexican
government and includes participation from a large number of
countries.
Many of the countries of origin of participants from the civil
society do not have a Mexican diplomatic representation which is
why IOM's assistance was requested from the organizing institution,
the IMJUVE as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to assist in
the reception of participants' documents for visa
applications.
The IMJUVE will benefit from IOM's extensive experience in the
management of this kind of logistical support at a global level in
order to provide these services for more than 180 participants in
close to 60 countries.
IOM will also actively participate in the WYC 2010 along with
other United Nations agencies through conferences on migration and
youth topics and the presentation of audiovisual materials prepared
by youth around the world such as the PLURAL + initiative.
PLURAL + is organized by the United Nations Alliance of
Civilizations and the International Organization for Migration.
Young people from around the world are invited to submit before 9
July 2010 short videos on their thoughts, experiences, opinions,
questions and suggestions on migration, inclusiveness and identity
and how to promote harmonious yet diverse societies.
