IOM Signs Agreement to Enhance China's Migration Management Capacity
IOM and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of
China have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on
implementation of a project to enhance migration management
capacity in China.
The MoU was signed in Beijing on Monday by IOM Regional
Representative for East Asia Charles Harns and Counsellor Jiang Qin
of the Department of International Organizations and Conferences of
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).
The €2.49 million two-year project is principally funded by
the European Commission and will be implemented by IOM and the
International Labour Organization (ILO), in partnership with the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Public Security, and
the Ministry of Labour and Social Security.
This project will enhance the knowledge and understanding of
respective migration management systems between relevant Chinese
and European Union (EU) Member State authorities, as well as
promoting cooperation between China and the EU in the field of
migration through the exchange of expertise, information and
