IOM Republic of Korea Launches Online Public Awareness-raising Campaign to Mark World Humanitarian Day
Seoul, Republic of Korea – To mark World Humanitarian Day 2022, the IOM Mission in the Republic of Korea (ROK) has launched an online public awareness-raising campaign targeting humanitarian practitioners, government officials and general public of ROK.
The campaign aims to bolster visibility of IOM’s humanitarian operation, in particularly the organization’s long-standing expertise and efforts to mainstream protection in humanitarian response.
During the week-long campaign launched on the 16th of August, videos of three selected operations from Indonesia, Central African Republic and Türkiye were posted on IOM ROK’s social media channels.
In the videos, Kanesan Ashereen Jessy, IOM Indonesia programme officer introduced the on-going Gender-Based Violence (GBV) programmes for refugee care and assistance program, while Amah Cassandre Aretha Fiona, the protection officer from the Central African Republic on Counter-Trafficking (CT) elaborated on the programmes for fighting trafficking in person as well as illicit trafficking. Lastly, Mermer Karaayak Emine, IOM Türkiye’s national programmer officer shed light on the project supporting the detention centers’ capacities and fostering alternatives to detention system.
The videos amplified IOM’s efforts on reducing the protection risks to crisis-affected individuals and communities through the voice of humanitarian experts.
Shared via IOM ROK’s YouTube, Instagram and Facebook channels, and reaching more than 1,000 views in total, the campaign conveyed meaningful as well as insightful message on the importance of protection interventions to humanitarian practitioners and general audience in ROK.
