Rome – The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is pleased to announce a new partnership with UN FLEET, the joint initiative between WFP and UNHCR, leading vehicle leasing service provider to UN agencies, to drive up efficiency and further its mission of supporting migrants worldwide.

Under the service agreement, IOM gains access to UN FLEET's comprehensive range of vehicle leasing services, which will bolster the Organization's capacity to provide crucial assistance to migrants and displaced communities globally, improving operational efficiency while also minimizing environmental impact.

UN FLEET, renowned for its vehicle leasing expertise for UN agencies, will offer IOM a variety of new vehicles on lease, including traditional 4x4 cars as well as newer hybrid and electric vehicles, that meet UN Road Safety Strategy standards.

This agreement enables IOM's offices worldwide to lease vehicles directly through the UN FLEET Portal; a user-friendly platform which allows UN agencies to quickly access UN FLEET's services, make leasing requests, and monitor their leases throughout their lifetime.

"We are excited to join forces with UN FLEET to enhance our global operations,” said Mrs. Irena Vojáčková-Sollorano, Deputy Director General for Management and Reform ad interim.

“Reliable, efficient and sustainable transportation is crucial in our work, and this collaboration will help us better serve the millions of migrants and displaced people."

The partnership between IOM and UN FLEET underscores their shared commitment to sustainability and the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By leveraging UN FLEET's expertise in vehicle leasing, IOM aims to reduce its environmental impact through the adoption of fuel-efficient and low-emission vehicles.

"We are honored to welcome IOM as the latest UN agency to join UN FLEET,” said UN FLEET's Head, Mr. Phil Jones.

“UN FLEET was set up to provide efficiency gains to the wider UN Community. The more our service is used, the bigger the efficiency gains will be, and we look forward to working with IOM to continue advancing our shared commitment to safe, sustainable and efficient fleets.”

UN FLEET, building on the experience of UNHCR and WFP, offers vehicle leasing services to all UN agencies. As an independent entity, it focuses on providing safe, efficient, and sustainable vehicle leasing for the entire UN system, leading to cost reduction, lower emissions, and improved road safety. This initiative aligns with UN Reform goals for cost-efficiency, as the UN System collectively operates over 30,000 light vehicles globally. UN FLEET aims to reduce duplication and administrative costs, supporting the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
