IOM to Observe Out-of-Country Voting during Ecuador's National Elections
Ecuadorians living abroad will participate in the upcoming National
Elections on April 26th with IOM acting as international observer
for the out-of-country voting (OCV) process.
IOM observers will carry out their duties in the following
eleven cities: Toronto, Canada; Santiago, Chile; Milan, Italy;
Madrid, Murcia and Barcelona, Spain; Newark (New Jersey), New York,
Chicago and Miami in the United States; and in Caracas,
Venezuela.
In addition, IOM will also observe the official review of the
results of the vote abroad which will take place in Quito.
IOM's objective is to support Ecuador's established
out-of-country voting process which guarantees the rights of
Ecuadorians living abroad to participate in the country's
democratic process. This will be the fifth time that IOM has acted
as the International Observer for an Ecuadorian OCV process.
According to the National Electoral Council, 184,584 out of
country electors are registered to vote in Sunday's general
elections.
