IOM Hosts Training on Migrant Health Promotion and Influenza Preparedness in Jordan
IOM will host a one-day training on Wednesday in the Jordanian
capital Amman for UN and NGO partners on migrant health promotion
and pandemic preparedness.
The workshop is part of a broader IOM pandemic preparedness
project that involves training migrant community leaders and local
NGOs on how to better prepare their communities against the threat
of pandemic influenza.
The project also disseminates information, education and
communication materials developed by IOM, including a manual, which
will be used to facilitate the workshop.
The training aims to increase awareness of the ongoing H1N1
human influenza pandemic, which has caused over 4,100 recorded
deaths. It also aims to increase networking and collaboration
between civil society organizations in the field of migration and
health promotion.
