The operation was funded by UNHCR.
IOM Assistance to the migrants consisted in the provision of the following services:
1. Registration and profiling;
2. Provision of Food, Non Food Items (NFI’s) i.e. mats, blankets, soap and mosquito nets as well as Medical Screening and Care at the Klemat Transit Centre in N’Djamena.
Each refugee received 10,000 XAF (20 USD) as transportation fee to his/her final destination in the country.
The profiling results show that 87% of the returning refugees were from N’Djamena while the rest are from outside the Capital.
377 returning migrants had undergone medical screening. No major illnesses were diagnosed among the group apart from common cold and skin diseases. 3 refugees required referral to hospitals.
45 IOM staff participated into this emergency operation.
