Egypt – IOM Egypt is to launch a Certificate in Migration Governance for Egyptian government officials, in cooperation with the Centre for Migration and Refugee Studies (CMRS) at the American University in Cairo (AUC).
The seven-month certificate programme will be launched on 20 November, with 28 students, including government officials from 10 key ministries, specialized government agencies, and representatives from civil society and the private sector.
The certificate programme, which will be taught by accredited AUC professors complemented by IOM thematic specialists, is supported by the European Union, the US State Department, the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation and the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
Since 2001, IOM and AUC have cooperated in various areas, including research on migration-related subjects. They recently launched an IOM-funded fellowship for a full-time graduate student to pursue a Master of Arts in the field of Migration and Refugee Studies at AUC. Founded in 1919, AUC is one of the Middle East’s leading English-language universities.
