International Symposium on Migration Policy Research and Training Opens in the Republic of Korea
IOM, in cooperation with the Gyeonggi provincial government and the
Korean Ministry of Justice will today launch a two-day
International Symposium on Migration Policy Research and Training
in Goyang City, Gyeonggi Province, the Republic of Korea.
The symposium will discuss the potential scope of activities of
a major Migration Research and Training Centre to be established in
Gyeonggi Province by IOM, the Gyeonggi provincial government and
the Korean Ministry of Justice, early 2009.
Over 100 migration experts from governments, the United Nations,
academia and civil society groups from migrant sending and
receiving countries in the Asia-Pacific region are expected to
attend the event.
The IOM delegation at the symposium will be led by Richard
Perruchoud, IOM's Director of International Migration Law and Legal
Affairs.
