Geneva Panel Aims to Dispel Myths about Migration

The British Council and IOM will host a panel discussion:
Dispelling Myths about Migration on Tuesday 29th May 2012 at 18.00
at the University of Geneva, Uni Mail, Room MR070.

The discussion, which will be moderated by BBC presenter Razia
Iqbal, is open to the public and will challenge everyday
misperceptions about migrants and migration. Panellists will
include London-based author Iqbal Ahmed and leading human rights
consultant and writer Mariette Grange.

Migration is one of the key global challenges that we face in
the twenty first century, yet it is perhaps one of the most
misrepresented topics in both public and political
discourse.

This event aims to create a space for dialogue and to start to
develop some new perspectives on the role several actors have to
play in dispelling migration myths.

It will bring together a diverse expert panel comprised of
voices from the media, politics, the arts, practitioners and the
migrant community, who all have a direct stake in how we
communicate about migration.

Anyone wishing to attend this event should notify the British
Council at "mailto:britishcouncil@britishcouncil.ch">britishcouncil@britishcouncil.ch.
