Egyptian Law Enforcers Training on Protecting Victims of Trafficking
A three-week long training for Egyptian law enforcers begins this
weekend which will better help them to tackle human trafficking in
the country and to assist victims of trafficking.
The training by IOM, in coordination with the Egyptian Ministry
of Interior for 20 officials will also tackle other forms of
irregular migration, including human smuggling.
During their training, which is funded by the US State
Department's Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons
(G/TIP), law enforcers will review international and domestic legal
instruments on migration in general, and on irregular migration and
human trafficking in particular.
Amongst other things, they will also learn how to identify and
assist trafficked victims appropriately, how to manage
professionally those that cooperate as witnesses with the Egyptian
criminal justice system and how to apply up-to-date methods to
investigate and prosecute traffickers.
