Declaration of the Prime Minister of Chad on the Central African Republic (CAR) Crisis and its Repercussions on Chadian Migrants, N’Djamena, 02 January 2014

The Prime Minister of Chad, H.E.M. Kalzeube Payimi Deubet has made a declaration on the Central African Republic (CAR) Crisis and its Repercussions on Chadian Migrants in N’Djamena on 02 January 2014.

The exacerbation of the crisis in CAR in December 2013 has caused hundreds of thousands of Chadian migrants to flee for their lives to Chad and to other neighbouring countries, such as Cameroon and Congo Brazzaville, among others.

To save the lives of its citizens in CAR, the Government put in place an air bridge and organized road convoys to evacuate them. Moreover, the Government of Chad has requested IOM to assist it in evacuating its citizens in CAR who wish to voluntarily return to their country of origin, Chad.

In his declaration, the Prime Minister named IOM as the organization that has helped the Government of Chad to bring its citizens to safety in Chad.
