Internationally acclaimed Bangladeshi folk singer and Member of
Parliament Momotaz Begum has become an IOM Goodwill Ambassador with
the aim of improving public awareness of safe migration and the
risks of human trafficking in Bangladesh.

Momotaz Begum, who became an MP in 2009, is the most popular
folk singer in Bangladesh and in a career spanning two decades has
recorded over 700 albums.

Her folk songs, which are a fusion of traditional and modern
music, have made her a household name in Bangladesh and among
Bengali-speaking people around the world, particularly in the
United Kingdom.

She is also a high-profile social philanthropist, raising
awareness of environmental issues, food security, health and
corruption. Her Momotaz Foundation is an apolitical, non-profit
