Asian Officials Train in Migration Management
Officials and academics from nine Asian nations will meet in
Bangkok on Monday for a 6-day workshop on migration management.
The workshop, co-organized by IOM, the Asian Development Bank
Institute and Chulalongkorn University’s Asian Research
Centre, will be based on IOM's internationally acclaimed
“Essentials of Migration Management (EMM)”
programme.
The programme, which has already been presented in Europe and
Central Asia, will focus on migration issues of particular interest
to the participating countries, including labour migration,
migration health, migration and development and border
management.
Countries represented at the workshop will include Cambodia,
Laos, Vietnam, Myanmar, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Timor Leste
and the Philippines.
"The workshop aims to broaden the understanding of decision
makers and practitioners about migration issues and to facilitate
dialogue on addressing regional migration challenges," says IOM
Regional Representative for Southeast Asia, Irena
Vojackova-Sollorano.
