Cette année se tiendra la vingtième édition du Dialogue international sur la migration (IDM). Depuis 2001, cette enceinte permet à de multiples parties prenantes du monde entier de débattre de toutes sortes de questions migratoires d’actualité, en tenant compte de leurs articulations étroites avec d’autres domaines d’action.

La pandémie de COVID-19 a mis les systèmes sanitaires, sociaux, politiques et économiques mondiaux à rude épreuve et aura des conséquences immédiates pour la réalisation de nombreux objectifs de développement durable (ODD). Étant donné la nécessité de renforcer l’engagement et la coopération à l’échelle internationale pour relever ces défis urgents, l’IDM réunira des représentants de l’ensemble de la société, des secteurs public et privé et de la société civile, afin de promouvoir des discussions sur les conséquences de la pandémie pour les migrants, la migration et la mobilité, ainsi que sur le rôle des migrants dans la réponse à la COVID-19 et le relèvement de la crise.

Ces discussions appuieront les efforts déployés à l’échelle mondiale pour faire face aux défis immédiats que pose la pandémie et aux effets à plus long terme qu’elle devrait avoir sur la société, les migrants et les populations vulnérables dans le monde entier, et doivent permettre d’identifier les possibilités de concevoir nos interventions conformément au Pacte mondial sur les migrations.
