The Tenth Global ISCM Meeting “Addressing Current Issues of Regional and Global Policy Dialogue on Migration” (GRCP 10) on 9 June 2023, in Geneva, brought together Chairs and Secretariat Heads of Inter-State Consultation Mechanisms on Migration to jointly deliberate on ISCMs’ role in addressing current issues of regional and global migration governance like sustainable development, South-South and Triangular Cooperation on Climate Change, and health and post-Covid-19 recovery. Possible ISCM partnerships and joint inputs to global policy fora like the United Nations High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (UNHLPF), the Second SDG Summit, and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference of Parties (COP), among others, were also discussed. GRCP is a closed event for only ISCM Chairs and Heads of the ISCM Secretariat.

Prior to the event, IOM, as the GRCP Coordinator, compiled through a survey the ISCM inputs on SDGs for HLPF and the SDG Summit, as well as inputs on migration and climate change for COP 28.

The GRCP discussions echoed the findings of the survey but also suggested new areas as pressing issues for inter-ISCM dialogue, like legal pathways, migration and trade, diaspora and migrant contributions, the positive profile of migrants as contributors to development, integration, and inclusion, and data exchange.

The outcome document of GRCP 10 and the summary of the survey among ISCMs serve as the basis for a collective ISCM submission to the United Nations/SDG Summit/COP 28 and HLPF.
